New Years Resolution: Get Organized and De-Clutter in 2008

Relaxing

Relax, take it easy. If you’re sick and tired of being sick and tired, it’s probably time to get organized.

Every paper needs a home; why not give them all a place to go. Maybe the paper is trash, a bill to pay, an upcoming bid or project, or simply belongs in a file cabinet (do you have one?). Wouldn’t you feel good knowing your papers had a place to go?

Whether it’s your computer filing system, your physical desktop or a room that needs an overhaul, The Work Organizer can give you the jump-start you need for the new year.

Tech Talk – External Hard Drive

External Hard DriveMultimedia files – especially uncompressed video files – can take up a lot of hard drive space on a computer, and many users quickly exceed the space on their internal hard drive. An external drive is an easy way to increase hard-drive space without installing a new internal hard drive. An external drive can also be used as a backup drive in case your computer’s drive becomes corrupted or unstable. Reviewers uniformly recommend that users back up their computers – or at least their most important files – at least once a week. Backing up data to multiple CDs or DVDs can be cumbersome, often requiring several discs, but an external hard drive can hold much more data. My Thanksgiving Gratitude

I don’t normally do this but I love Thanksgiving and once a year, I like to express my gratitude.

Every autumn, when the light of day shifts and the smell of wood burns around town, I’m reminded of my tremendous gratitude for being born in a great country, where freedom reigns and where I’ve been blessed with family, friends, the love of my life (Michael), his sons, Gabriel and Julian, and my two cats Eno and Smidget:

Michael and me

The Bean

Smeebes

I thank my clients for giving me the opportunity to work with them. It’s a privilege to be invited into their lives to help them become more productive and effective in their businesses. So many of us are born without the organizing and discipline genes!

I thank the internet for being an unlimited source of knowledge and information and for all the people that contribute freely and passionately.

I thank those who have helped me along the way to develop my presence on the web (Wayne Marshall, Betsy Berlin, John Brennan, Greg Wiley).

Tech Talk: One Laptop Per Child

David Pogue is a Technology writer for the New York Times – he’s funny and very informative. My very excellent friend and hiking extraordinaire Linda Jeffers told me about his site and I want to share it with you.
